WakeMeThere is an iPhone app that lets you create location-based alarms. This policy explains what data the app uses, why it is used, and how it is stored.

Data used by the app

  • Precise location: used to calculate the distance between your device and the destination you selected. This allows the alarm to trigger when you enter the chosen radius.
  • Background location: used only while a GPS alarm is active, so the app can alert you during a trip or when the app is not visible on screen.
  • Notifications: used to show alarm alerts and related reminders for active alarms.
  • Locally saved data: destination name, destination coordinates, alert radius, alarm status, preferences, and favorite destinations.

How location is used

Location is used for the core purpose of the app: alerting you when you are near a chosen destination. WakeMeThere does not use location for advertising, profiling, or tracking you across apps or websites.

When there are no active GPS alarms, the app does not need to monitor background location to provide its service.

External services

WakeMeThere may use external map and place-search services to display maps and help you find a destination. When you search for a place, the search text and, when needed, an approximate geographic area near your current location may be sent to the search provider to return results.

This version may use OpenStreetMap-based services such as Photon/Komoot and Nominatim/OpenStreetMap for destination search. Map display may use map services available on the device platform.

Storage and deletion

Alarms and favorite destinations are stored locally on your device. You can remove saved alarms and destinations inside the app. Deleting the app from your device removes the local data associated with the app.
